9:30 AM-10:30 AM (1 hour): Uncovering Social Innovation

Many scholars contend that social innovation is the best construct for understanding – and producing – lasting social change. But what is social innovation? Workshop attendees will get the opportunity to establish what social innovation means for them and those who are working professionals in the field. Not only will they be introduced to the evolving field of social innovation, the attendees will also engage in the pursuit of refining and transforming the field to best fit the ever-diversifying landscape of social change.

10:30 AM-10:45 AM (15 mins): Designing and Brainstorming Ideas for the Future

In this session, the attendees will learn how to engage in the process of brainstorming and designing ideas that are feasible yet groundbreaking, all while committing to the scholarly processes of completing honest and ethical research work.

10:45-11:30 AM (45 mins): Interactive Exercise

During this interactive session, the attendees will collaborate with their teammates to apply what they have learned to formulate a unique research question of their interest. Under the direct guidance and mentorship of current Harvard undergraduate students, the attendees will choose a social entrepreneurship topic that they want to research further.

11:30 AM-11:50 AM (20 mins): Research Proposals: Defining the Problem and Generating Solutions

In this session, the attendees will commit to the intricate art of creating a research proposal. How are research proposals formatted? What sections and materials are included in the research proposals? How can they differ based on different occasions? These questions will all be answered through the guidance of Harvard undergraduate researchers and the direct experiences of attendees who come curious about the process.

9:05-10:05 AM (1 hour): Leading the Veritas Way

What does it mean to be a leader? What qualities does one need to become a leader in the social entrepreneurship space? In this session, Harvard undergraduate students who have led successful social enterprises will share their experiences and knowledge with the attendees. At the conclusion of the panel, the attendees will also have the chance to ask questions to the panelists.

10:05 AM- 10:30 AM (25 mins): Public Speaking to Lead and Inspire

To inspire an audience to act, you need to create a connection with them. How can one do so through the use of public speaking? In this session, the attendees will be led through an interactive workshop to help them develop and practice core public speaking skills, as well as gaining a better understanding of how to increase your confidence in every speaking setting and elevate your presence and persuasion.

10:30 AM-11:00 AM (30 mins): Modern Collaboration: Making the Dream Work, Together

Effective teamwork doesn’t happen by accident – one needs team members who understand themselves, know how to communicate effectively, manage conflict, solve problems, and make decisions. In this session, the attendees will learn how to positively contribute to a team both as a leader and a follower, especially in an ever-diversifying world, where working together means overcoming learned biases, prejudices, and discrimination.
